Accommodations -

Chain locker forward followed by a spacious forward cabin with one single berth to port, which extends to a double, with storage shelves opposite and an enclosed head with sink aft to starboard.

Going up the steps into the main salon, there is a single settee berth to port which extends to a double berth. Opposite is the steering station and helmsman's seat with the galley area aft. Below all berths and the helmsman seat are large storage lockers. The galley includes a three burner propane stove and oven, stainless steel sink, small counter, chart table and generous lockers. Next is a sliding door opening onto cockpit area.

Forward cockpit contains two exterior lockers, hot and cold freshwater shower and salt water wash down. Removable couch seating with three storage lockers and BBQ grill complete the stern cockpit area. The cockpit is covered by a custom canvas enclosure.

Construction -

Mahogany cabin house also treated with Chem Tex. Fiberglass over plywood side decks. Cockpit is laid and caulked locust and interior sole is pine. Heavy white oak varnished deck beams with stainless steel tie rods and bolts. Jade green hull, white cabin house and toe rails, all finished in awlgrip paint. Self bailing cockpit with two large Freeman hatches.

Remarks -

Complete refit in 2005/06 including: New interior paint and all soft goods replaced. New awlgrip exterior paint. Jade green hull with white superstructure.

Custom-built Downeast Style Cruiser was designed by Royal Lowell. The hull was constructed by Jeff Foggman & Bud MacIntosh of Burrington, NH and completed in 1980 by the legendary Frank Sample in Boothbay Harbor, ME shipyard for a very tall client. Thus the extra height in the cabins and doorways.

They used the yacht mainly as a commuter vessel to and from their private New England Island. Originally named the Dobsis Loon, the Tuesday Afternoon was re-christened in 2007 when commissioned into the South Carolina Yacht Club.

The Tuesday Afternoon is carvel-planked cedar hull with an epoxy and Versatex sheathing over her hull, deck and superstructure. This type of construction has now proven to be very durable and provides the owner with all the advantages of a wooden boat, yet has the low maintenace of a "West System" or fiberglass boat. Ideal cruising boat.

Shallow water draft and protective keel easily enables picnic and beach activities without a tender.
